On January 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), making it a significant event in Mumbai’s real estate story. This bridge, stretching an impressive 22km with a 16.5km part over the sea, is about to change how things connect in Mumbai, especially in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
Changing Travel
The MTHL isn’t just a bridge; it’s like a big switch. It will make the travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai only 20 minutes, way less than the current long 2-hour journey. This will change how people move around these places.
Impact on Real Estate
This big bridge is going to help the real estate business a lot. It will make Mumbai a lively real estate center, making homes more valuable and boosting the real estate business.
What Experts Say
Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson of Nahar Group and Senior Vice President of NAREDCO-Maharashtra, is very hopeful. She says, “The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is a game-changer! As a proud Mumbai developer, I see this big bridge changing how things connect and our real estate.”
She thinks areas like Panvel and Ulwe will grow a lot because more people will want to live close to their jobs. This will make homes more expensive in these places.
Ayushi Ashar, Director at Ashar Group, is also excited. She says, “The big plan of a 337 km metro network, with 46 km already working and more coming in 2023-2024, shows that Mumbai is becoming a lively real estate center.”
Making Market Fair
The big bridge doesn’t just make travel easy; it also makes the real estate market fair. Places like Panvel, Sewri, Navi Mumbai, and Chembur, which people didn’t like much before, will become popular.
Sundeep Jagasia, Managing Director of Shree Krishna Group, says, “Homes in places where the big bridge goes will become very important parts of Mumbai.”
Changes in Chembur
Chembur is already getting better because of other projects. With the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link making travel easy, Chembur will become an even better place to live.
Amazing Bridge – Atal Setu
The MTHL, also called Atal Setu in honor of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, goes from Sewri in Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka in Raigad district. This huge project cost ₹18,000 crore and will make the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai only 20 minutes.
The End
In the end, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link isn’t just a bridge. It’s like a big switch that will make Mumbai’s real estate grow a lot. As the city gets used to this big change, it will make homes more valuable, change how the market works, and make Mumbai a top place for real estate.
