Recently, there was a serious incident of firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The security forces quickly responded by starting a search operation to check what happened. This firing took place in the Dhara Dhullian area in the Lower Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.
What Happened
Some reports say that the firing targeted a group of vehicles from the security forces. It seems like the attackers, who might be terrorists, ran away after shooting. Thankfully, no one got hurt.
“At around 1800 today, some people fired at a group of vehicles from the security forces near Krishna Ghati in Poonch. Nobody from our side got hurt. The police from Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Army are working together to search the area,” said the Army.
Investigation Underway
The incident is still being looked into. A spokesperson for the defense mentioned that they are still figuring out all the details. This comes after a similar attack on two army vehicles in Surankote in December, where four soldiers died and three got hurt. A group called the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed they were responsible for that attack.
Review and Plan
This recent incident happened while a top army officer, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, reviewed the plan to fight against terrorism in 2024. They’re discussing how to stop terrorists and get rid of terrorism in the Poonch–Rajouri region.
General Manoj Pande, the head of the army, talked about how serious the situation is in Rajouri-Poonch. He’s worried about the increase in terrorist activities. To handle this, they plan to send more troops, make intelligence stronger, and talk to the local people.
Rise in Terrorism
General Pande mentioned that terrorism has gone up in Rajouri-Poonch in the last five to six months. Even though they got rid of terrorism in 2003, it’s coming back. In 2023, terrorists attacked four times, leading to 19 soldiers losing their lives. But the security forces have been working hard, dealing with more than 30 terrorists in different areas.
Recent Findings
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) found four dangerous things hidden in food boxes and many bullets in Rajouri. Also, near the LoC in Poonch, security forces found drugs. As the security forces work harder to protect the region, everyone needs to come together to make sure Rajouri-Poonch is safe. The security forces, local authorities, and the community must work together to face the challenges of terrorism in the area.
